San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 15, 2017 Lefty's the Left Hand Store is holding a Left-Handed pumpkin carving video contest! Check out Lefty's San Francisco's Facebook site for details about entering. Lefties are known for being both funny and creative. An astonishingly high percentage of comedians are left-handed (Jon Steward, Tina Fey, Dan Akroyd, Jerry Seinfeld, Charlie Chaplin, .....), as are artists (ranging from Leonardo da Vinci, Toulouse Lautrec, and Paul Klee, to M.C. Esher and R. Crumb). On top of this, left-handers historically have been vilified as evil or threatening. The words for left or left-handed in many languages are negative, even scary! Would you hire this guy? (Simon & Schuster) The candidate is hopeless with deadlines and alternates between undisciplined meandering and grandiose hyperactivity. When he isn’t sketching birds, he’s making fruitless plans to reroute rivers, build cities or create absurd flying machines. When he does focus on a project, it’s with a febrile intensity, drawing, say, page after page of triangles or sadistic war machines. More disturbing, he habitually dissects corpses — humans, pigs, whatever’s at hand. He’s restless, moving with proteges and hangers-on from one town to another, leaving contractual agreements unfulfilled. A risky prospect at best, this mercurial Leonardo from Vinci. Then again, he did create arguably the two most iconic works of art in Western history: the Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. His drawing of Vitruvian Man is the classic representation of the Renaissance spirit. And if it weren’t for those thousands of pages of … [Read more...] about How to unlock your inner Leonardo da Vinci

Could Leonardo da Vinci have drawn a nude version of The Mona Lisa? Art experts say that is entirely possible. This charcoal drawing, titled the Monna Vanna, is now thought to have at least been partially rendered by the famed artist. A Curator at the Conde Museum in France points out that there are several aspects of the two works that are almost exactly the same. The drawing is nearly the exact same size as the Mona Lisa and the hands and body are virtually identical. A Louvre Conservation expert, also confirms that the drawing was made during da Vinci’s lifetime. The piece also has small holes around the figure that could have been used for tracing the image onto the canvas.
