RIVER OAKS, Texas – Television wasn’t part of the life plan for Andy and Ashley Williams. The stars of “Flip or Flop Fort Worth,” HGTV’s new reality series, merely happened to be in the right place at the right time. It all started when Andy treated his wife to an island vacation in 2015 for her 30th birthday. “We were there, just relaxing,” Ashley recalled, “and Andy found someone who was interested in talking business. They hit it off, and we literally went through the whole vacation talking to him.” Andy has a passion for buying neglected houses, renovating them and then selling them for sweet profits. He can talk for hours about his successful flips. He’ll whip out his cellphone and swipe through hundreds of before-and-after photos. That’s what he was doing with the stranger he befriended while on vacation. Little did they know that this new acquaintance was in the TV business. “He never actually said what he … [Read more...] about Texas military couple are newest stars of HGTV’s ‘Flip or Flop’ franchise.
The most important shot of Turkish-German director Fatih Akin’s In the Fade might be its last — a key to unlocking the film. I’m not giving too much away to say that it’s an image of an upside-down sea, mirroring in some ways the seaside setting of the final scene. It calls into question the perspective we’ve been given, and thus undercuts — albeit subtly — what at first might have seemed the more familiar elements of this movie about a woman’s quest for justice after the deaths of her husband and son. It dares to tell us that all along, we might have been watching an upside-down world.Despite his international art house pedigree, Akin has always had a populist streak, and In the Fade embraces convention even more than his previous work. And yet it also hit me hard in ways I didn’t quite expect. I’ve had a complex relationship with this director’s work over the years. As a fellow member of the Turkish diaspora, I … [Read more...] about “In the Fade” Dares to Flip Expectations About Terrorism

HGTV star Christina El Moussa says continuing to work with her ex has been business as usual — but Tarek El Moussa admits the process remains under construction. Christina and Tarek appeared on competing morning shows Tuesday to open up about their highly publicized divorce, but they provided noticeably different answers when asked about what it's been like filming episodes for the hit home improvement show "Flip or Flop" amid the off-screen drama. "We met at work," Christina told host Michael Strahan on ABC's "Good Morning America," adding they film together three or four times a week. "We worked together before we ever started dating. It's our normal." She repeated multiple times that everything in her life is positive right now, and that their two young children are doing well despite the split. Tarek, however, admitted returning to set with his ex in the immediate aftermath of their breakup was not an ideal scenario. "I'm not gonna say it was … [Read more...] about ‘Flip or Flop’ stars Tarek and Christina El Moussa dish on what it’s like working together after explosive split
Breaking up is hard to do, but milking a relationship for reality TV isn't. "Flip or Flop" stars Tarek and Christina El Moussa are the latest small screen couple to move to Splitzville - but the two have put up a united front and continued their reality show as a "happily" divorced couple. They're not alone. Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian were all smiles for the cameras on their E! reality show before calling it quits. It's only a matter of time before they do a co-parenting spinoff. And everyone was front and center as Jon and Kate Gosselin's explosive divorce played out on their hit TLC show - only to watch the two expand their empire elsewhere. See how six other reality show couples have managed to spin their own love connections into an exhaustive tabloid circus (and dependable cash cow). Heidi and Spencer Pratt A plastic surgery-enhanced photo of these two fame grubbers is likely in the dictionary under 'Most Annoying … [Read more...] about Is reality TV a relationship killer – or just a cash cow?
PHILADELPHIA — All the makings of a hangover are here in Lot D6 outside Wells Fargo Center on the last Sunday of January. It is 11 a.m.; the temperature is 35 degrees. Four gates to the parking area have already been open three hours by now, and Villanova flags fly as handles of Vladimir vodka are hoisted up. “Thunderstruck” blasts out of speakers in the back of a pickup truck rented for $19.95 at U-Haul. Natural Light flows through a funnel; co-eds mix mimosas. Tipoff for the top-ranked Wildcats’ game against No. 12 Virginia nears while frat brothers and sorority sisters, brought to the site via 24 yellow buses and a caravan of Ubers, tap Busch Light kegs and tipple. Sophomore William Bantner and senior Thomas Brew toss a football across 12 spaces. Brew, in a vest and Aviators, lifts a bottle of André champagne. “Drinking it pretty much every game,” he says. “Great year to be a Wildcat!” Brew is not alone in his … [Read more...] about Jay Wright developed own winning formula that has Villanova threatening to repeat
Life appears to be a beach for Billy Bush — despite being mired in a national controversy for his crude comments in a vile, recently surfaced 2005 video with Donald Trump. The 44-year-old TV host sported flip-flops, a "Beach" T-shirt and sweatpants during a daytime stroll in Encino, Calif., on Monday — his first public sighting since NBC executives suspended him indefinitely from the "Today" show. “The Bushy” has received a wave of backlash since last Friday, when The Washington Post published unaired raw footage of he and Donald Trump engaging in a vulgar conversation about women while taping for "Access Hollywood." In the 11-year-old clip, Bush repeatedly gawks over soap star Arianne Zucker after spotting her on the set of "Days of Our Lives." Billy Bush re-emerged in the public eye Monday wearing sweats, flip-flops and a "Beach" t-shirt. "Uh, yeah, those legs, all I can see is the legs," Bush, who was … [Read more...] about Billy Bush spotted out in sweatpants, flip-flops amid lewd Donald Trump video controversy
AN EVANGELIST who advises President Bush and is an outspoken opponent of gay marriage dropped a bombshell yesterday when he admitted buying methamphetamines from a gay escort he was visiting, supposedly for a massage. But the Rev. Ted Haggard, leader of a Colorado megachurch, insisted that he tossed the drugs and that he never had sex with escort Mike Jones. Haggard, 50, resigned Thursday as president of the 30 million-member National Association of Evangelicals amid allegations that he had paid a male prostitute for sex. Haggard at first denied he knew Jones, 49, but changed his story yesterday. "I called him to buy some meth but I threw it away," Haggard, who is married with five children, told a Denver television station. "I was buying it for me, but I never used it. I was tempted, I bought it, but I never used it." Haggard's about-face came after his 14,000-member New Life Church released a statement that said he had "confessed to the overseers that some of the accusations … [Read more...] about Rev does sex flap flip-flop. Chris Wragge is nearing his two-year anniversary with WCBS/Ch. 2, and he's feeling pretty good about his run there. "There's a lot of turmoil in the marketplace, people coming and going," Wragge said. "At this time in my life, I love being here. " Wragge was hired as the lead sportscaster in July 2004 after Ch. 2 dropped Warner Wolf. This week, Wragge was named Ch. 2's sports director and host of "Sports Sunday with Chris Wragge Presented by Nissan," a new wrapup show airing Sundays at 11:35 p. m. "I know I came in under circumstances that maybe were undesirable," he said, "but there was no rioting, no picketing. " Though he came to Ch. 2 from Houston, he was born and raised in New Jersey. "This may sound pathetic in a way, this is my home, my family is here, my best friends are here," Wragge said. Well, not all of them. Wragge's wife, model Victoria Silvstedt, and he share a Manhattan apartment when the two are in the same city. Both have heavy work schedules - … [Read more...] about HE’S A GOOD SPORT ABOUT TAKING OVER
